Cottrell Park Golf Club, 3rd September

Nine walkers meet up at WVH on Saturday morning and headed off to Cottrell Park Golf club in Bonvilston. They were met there by 3 others who drove directly from Ogmore. The plan was to walk the perimeter of the two courses, approximately 5 miles in length. The weather was rather overcast, and shortly after we set off we encountered a light shower, however luckily it moved on quickly and stayed dry for the rest of the walk.

We walked the designated nature trail that runs around the course observing numerous species of plants and trees and an abundance of blackberries. It looks like it is going to be a bumper year for blackberries, obviously the drought conditions we are enduring is suiting them this year.

Expectations were high that a number of golf balls would be found given that last time we walked the route we discovered in excess of 100 balls which kept Phil going for a while! This time however we found a grand total of 1!! Not really the season for golf balls given how long the grass is currently.  Robbie was also hoping to find some mushrooms on the walk however he only found 1 of those as well!

Once we had completed the walk most of us retired to the clubhouse where our recommendation of Fish Finger sandwiches was taken up by quite a few walkers and all agreed that the recommendation was great!

A very enjoyable walk and lunch afterwards – thank you everyone.
