The Knap and Barry Island, 15th August

Ten of us set out from the Wick Village Hall and headed to Romilly Park in Barry, where we parked at the top, by the Eisteddfod stones. We walked through the park, onward under the railway bridge and into the Knap Gardens, and continued on the west side of the lake passing the very busy skatepark and onto the Knap promenade with clear views of the channel.

Moving along passed the area for the old lido and then the watchtower. Knowing the tide would in we walked around Barry Harbour through Parade Gardens then across the causeway into Barry Island.

A change, in our route was made without hesitation with the majority wanting to walk through the Barry Island Pleasure Park, which brought back memories for most of us.

We exited the park and walked down to the beach along the promenade and stopped at “Marcos” Gavin and Stacey’s haunt enjoying tea/coffee before returning back over the causeway and headed to our cars at the Knap.

A lovely walk and lovely day.
