7 of us met at WVH to share cars to Blackmill and the start of the walk. It was a lovely day, warm and sunny with a pleasant breeze.

From the start we walked up the route 4 cycle track, until it joined the Great Glamorgan way, and finally the Taff Ely ridgeway at the top and along the way we walked through one large recent windfarm.
We stopped for lunch at the ruin of St Peters church, with wonderful views over the Vale of Glamorgan and the Bristol channel.
After lunch we continued along the ridgeway, through a much smaller old windfarm which was put up in 1993. We were delighted to hear two cuckoos in the valley below, a beautiful and increasingly rare sound.
After coming onto the common we made our descent to the cars, down a small lane and then through a lovely quiet valley.
It was a really lovely 8 mile walk in good company.
