Parc slip near Aberkenfig, 20th June

Today eleven keen walkers set out for a sunny, but short, walk at Parc slip near Aberkenfig.

Finding the road closed, undeterred, a detour brought us back to the Parc and begin our walk.

Some of the group had been there before but for a number it was their first visit.

Information boards explained what could be seen in the hedgerows, such as the orchids, and the wildlife.

There was admiration at the wonderful wooden carvings of figures along the pathways and sadness at the memorial which showed names and ages of young lives lost in the pit disaster of the 1800s.

Liz managed to scramble to the highest point on our walk to pose for a photo and managed to get back down, thankfully, without injury!

Lovely weather and good company made this a most enjoyable walk.
