Siginstone and Llanblethian, 4 November

Seven hardy souls met at the Village Hall at 10am on an extremely wet and blustery day.

After much deliberation it was decided to go and have a coffee in Topstak and think about what we were going to do. The rain was lashing down as we pulled up at Topstak, but after half an hour it showed signs of clearing so we set off on the originally planned route across the fields from Siginstone to Llanblethian coming out by the ford and close to Greystones on Factory Road where Robbie lived until the age of 10.

The path then took us up through the little wood and onto the higher ground and alongside a field of swedes, but owing to the presence of bullocks in the next field we turned eastwards towards Llandough until we joined the country lane.

Turning right we followed this lane through Llanmihangel and back to Topstak where we had a tasty soup and scone lunch.

It had been well worth persevering with the walk.
