Five of us took on the first short walk of the year. The suggested circular route from the ‘Three Golden Cups’ took us up towards Pant Mari Flanders.
The weather was threatening so we deviated left at Gros Farm towards Norton before reaching the common. This kept our boots cleaner. We took a path which used to be a road towards the coast via Sutton Rise leading to Sutton House. At this point the views over Ogmore Estuary were splendid and worth a quick coffee break before we made the descent into a torrent of rainfall. Unfortunately, this persisted so the planned walk along the coastal path was curtailed.
We managed to get back to base camp intact, slightly wet and grateful for the local knowledge some of the walkers provided of shortcuts. Overall a pleasant walk of 4.5 miles which enabled us to blow off any remaining festive cobwebs and left us wanting more, which I’m sure will be achieved in the next few walks…watch this space.
A picture of ‘five finish a hike’ not quite famous.
