Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day especially after the week’s uncertainty. We met as usual at the WVH, and travelled to Cowbridge Cattle Market where we met up with Mags and Moyra.
We headed off, passing around the back of Waitrose and on to the High Street. We continued up towards East Gate, across the traffic lights and taking an almost immediate turn onto the bridal path, which considering the rain that had fallen, was remarkably dry. At the end of the path we turned into the fields where we turned and walked along the lane to Stone Acre stables.
There we took some time out to give our attention to the beautiful stallions that greeted us. Traversing on through more fields, we wondered what the farmer had been planting. We were unable to come to a conclusion, perhaps it was grass for silage.

Then it was onto the New Beaupre Woods, before moving onto St. Hilary. The Bush was unfortunately closed but we stopped at the church for some light refreshments and lovely mince pies from Mags.
We turned left out of St. Hilary proceeding uphill on the track towards the Clump, the reputed place of past public hangings, from there it was downhill to the Murghal restaurant. A decision was then made to shorten the walk, so we went downhill to Aberthin, from there taking the main road back to the high school and moving under the underpass, the allotments and into the carpark.
Cowbridge was booming, perhaps the loverly day had something to do with it, all the cafes seemed to be full, but we eventually found a table at Nero’s and were more than happy to sit outside and enjoy the sun.
Moyra’s husband Peter, joined us and we had an enjoyable time before heading back.
