Llanmaes and Sigingstone, 6th January

After all these years I think the weather forecasters are going to start losing their jobs, as they’re getting the forecasts correct.

Saturday 6th January 2024 as forecast proved to be blue skies and sun for our walk. It was perfect walking conditions even though the walk was changed to avoid some areas that were and still flooded from the recent storms.

Eight of us set off from WVH and headed to Llanmaes for the beginning of our walk around the back lanes.

We parked by the Blacksmith Arms, moving on towards St Cattwgs church heading east, towards Froglands Farm, and passing Midlands Caravan Park. As we turned to the north, we walked past St Athans where multiple aircraft were being refurbished or scrapped. We crossed the unbelievable set of traffic lights at the entrance to the Aston Martin factory (some 30 black traffic lights and pedestrian posts for one junction)

We continued on through Picketston passing Happy Jakes caravan park and on towards Sigingstone. Before reaching we turned onto Sigingstone Lane and headed back to Llanmaes and to our cars.

It was a difficult choice for us, but we succumbed to temptation and went into the Blacksmiths for a drink and light refreshments. The walk was relaxing, pleasant and stimulating, we covered 5 miles, and it was enjoyed by all.
