Ten of us trusted our instincts to take a walk on the wild side after Storm Bert. Of course, at 9:45, just as it was time to leave home, a raging downpour tried one last time to deter us, but it soon subsided, and the sun came out, but the blustery winds remained in force. Before leaving WVH, we had brief discussions to ascertain group preferences re: level of muckiness we were prepared to tolerate, and it was decided to veer on the cleaner (safer) route of mainly road/made up paths.
We parked at Llantwit Beach and walked through the valley to the far end leading onto Colhuw Street, then made our way to the Acorn Campsite Cafe via the very pleasant Mill Lay Lane and the extended residential section of the site. Moyra D. drew our attention to the picturesque fishpond, which was unknown to some of us, and is shared with you in our group photo, courtesy of Phil.

We settled into the cafe, warmed by the wood fire and already nicely warmed up from our walk with the sun shining and sheltered from the brisk winds on our chosen route. Our return route was via the elevated gravel/paved path overlooking the valley and onwards to the sea. The original plan to take part coastal path starting at Rosedew Farm has been put on hold for calmer, drier weather conditions.
