Ten of us met at Ewenny, our destination to Brombil Resevoir, situated in Margam. We parked the cars and set off under the M4, soon to reach Brombil farm. Which is between the M4 and Margam mountain.
We took a wooded path, leaving the M4 behind us. We continued under a canopy of trees and beside a babbling brook, where we stopped to have a mindful moment, it was so peaceful. The countryside surrounded us as we made are way through brambles forming along a narrow path, admiring on the way ancient trees and wild flowers. The wet weather had played a part in the growth of the brambles.

We reached the reservoir which was a blue-green (due to algae) nestled on three sides with mountains. The reservoir was previously a site of a colliery, closed in 1880. Then flooded to supply water to the steel co of Wales
Here is where we settled down to enjoy our coffee before returning on the same route down to the cars. Hungry and thirsty we went to enjoy lunch at ‘the steel cafe’ in Margam, opposite the round chapel which had been moved from Groes to its present position, to make room for the M4.
Thank you to all who joined us on our walk.
