Southerndown to Ogmore by Sea, 29th December

Eight of us left Wick and headed for Southerndown parking just passed the ‘Three Golden Cups’ to meet up with the remainder of our group, now twelve in all, and the start of our walk.

We were soon leaving Southerndown and heading toward Groes Farm stables and passing the turn off to Heol y Mynydd we continued toward Norton Farm, all in wonderful weather, a bit cold, but bright and fresh, just the thing after all the Christmas festivities.

It wasn’t long before we turned left at Norton Farm and headed for Ogmore by Sea admiring views across the Severn Estuary toward Somerset, Swansea and the Gower.

Arriving at Sutton Road, we turned left and soon arrived at the main road and a little further along we arrived at our destination, a very busy community centre coffee shop. Fortunately, with a few people leaving we were all seated including Helen and Andrew who also arrived and joined us for teas, coffees and cakes.

Suitably refreshed we headed back to Southerndown along the coast road and path and back to our cars and the end of a very enjoyable walk.

Total distance is 3.6 miles (5.7k).
