Mags had organised a short walk from Wick Village Hall to The Heritage Coast Campsite Cafe, collecting several members from Broughton Road enroute.
Fifteen “Thirsty Wanderers” discovered on arrival that due to unforeseen circumstances the cafe was not able to open. As post walk refreshments features very highly in our Monday walks, an alternative solution was quickly planned! We expected the Plough and Harrow would be open in another hour or so, so Moira suggested a circular walk in the meantime. Mags led the others back towards Wick. The larger group headed off down the narrow lane towards Blaen y Cwm.
The hedgerows were alive with butterflies; we shared our knowledge on what we saw and photographed. Varieties of Dragonflies/damselflies seemed to accompany us as we walked (not so good at knowing which was which!)

We didn’t enter the nature reserve but turned back to walk over the fields and stiles. At the fork in footpaths, we had a small diversion to cross the wooden footbridge over Nash Brook, just to admire the view.
Back on the original route, we were soon back on the lane leading to our destination. The Plough and Harrow kindly opened slightly earlier for us, and we discovered they had also served tea and coffees to Mag’s group too.
Weather was sunny, rather windy, but everyone enjoyed sitting and socialising in the pub garden with distant views down to the sea. This was followed by the walk back up to Wick.
